Murano is celebrating its 15th birthday with a facelift (and new chef)

murano restaurant makeover

How best to celebrate your 15th birthday? Well, if you're Angela Hartnett's Michelin-starred restaurant Murano then you give yourself a bit of time off for a makeover.

Hartnett's Mayfair restaurant will close for three weeks over August and September before returning with a new look and a new head chef. George Ormond has just taken over the kitchen here from Emily Brightman, having worked alongside her for the past two years.

When the restaurant and kitchen reopen there will also be a few new dishes to entice new and returning customers:

  • Smoked ricotta tart, pickled walnuts and home-cured bresaola
  • Lamb shoulder tortellini, brown butter and sage
  • Monkfish tonnata with fennel, confit lemon
  • Olive oil cake with fig leaf ice cream

As for that facelift, a quick before and after look shows that the dining room is going to look a lot more colourful with the introduction of some soft blush pinks and a rather striking gold and pearl glass chandelier. All in all, it sounds like a good reason to book in for a meal when they're back in action.
