2/5/23 - Updated with the opening date

Oxford Street shoppers are going to have a handy new pitstop to drop into this summer. BAO are opening up BAO Mary on James Street. They've taken over the space next to Patty & Bun (where Sidechick used to be) and this latest restaurant of theirs will focus on dumplings.

BAO Mary, as it'll be known, will have an open kitchen, with handy counter seats if you fancy watching the dumpling frying at close quarters. If you're in a larger group you can book out downstairs and there'll be a few terrace seats available too.

As for those dumplings, in addition to the current menu classic, boiled cull yaw dumplings you'll also be able to order boiled prawn dumplings with scrambled egg and kelp broth; and pan-fried mushroom guo tie dumplings which are vegan potstickers served with a black garlic dip.

If you're all about the bao, those will be on offer too alongside small plates like Taiwanese fried chicken chop and the Beef tendon nugget with burnt chilli sauce.

Tying in with its position in the heart of the shopping district, this BAO will be the first one to be open all day from noon through to dinner. Dump your shopping bags and tuck into dumplings - what could be better?
