NYC's Eddie Huang brings Baohaus' Taiwanese buns to London

NYC's Eddie Huang brings Bauhaus' Taiwanese buns to London

They've previously brought over Ivan Orkin's Ivan Mazemen for a popular residency and now Neighbourhood in Islington are getting ready for another US import. This time it's the turn of NYC chef and TV personality Eddie Huang (who also created the hit TV show Fresh Off The Boat).

He's bringing over the restaurant that first brought him to fame in New York, Baohaus. It was a real trailblazer there when it launched back in 2009 and it's all about Taiwanese steamed buns (similar to BAO). The US restaurants have since closed, but he's bringing new life to it in London (and Brighton too) with a menu that includes:

  • Chairman Bao - Braised pork belly Haus relish, crushed peanuts, Taiwanese red sugar and cilantro
  • Birdhaus Bao - Fried chicken brined for 24 hours with lemon-garlic aioli, Haus seasoning salt, crushed peanuts, Taiwanese red sugar and cilantro
  • Manager’s Meal - Red cooked pork belly, minced pork stew and Birdhaus fried chicken served with Haus relish and cilantro
  • Uncle Jesse Bao - Organic fried tofu served with Haus sauce, Haus seasoning salt, crushed peanuts, Taiwanese red sugar and cilantro

On the launch, Huang said: "I’ve always been so proud of what we achieved in New York and LA. I created Baohaus to tell my family’s story through food at a time when Taiwanese food was not readily available, and now I can’t wait to bring my food to the UK."
