For more than a decade Andreas Georghiou and his family have been providing the well-heeled residents of Chelsea and many of London's top chefs with their five-a-day. Now the grocer beloved by the likes of Nigella and Gordon is making plans to expand.
Andreas and his family are getting ready to unveil a brand new grocers shop - they've taken over the building next door to them on Chelsea Green. The new state-of-the-art grocer is going to sell everything from the best seasonal fruit and veg through to micro-herbs and edible flowers. There are going to be custom-made fridges stuffed with the best British and European cheeses and a whole load of top-tier charcuterie. There are also going to be some one-off items from London's top restaurants like bearnaise sauce and focaccia from Wild Tavern; and hummus and babaganoush from Villa Mamas. "There will be some surprises," Andreas told Hot Dinners.
Downstairs is devoted to wine with a cabinet of great wine curated by their neighbours Wild Tavern.
Once they've moved across to the new premises the Georghiou family will then start work on their new restaurant. Kale Street (we see what they did there) will take over their old space. That's being described as a 'bijou diner' serving up cocktails and juices made using their own fruit and veg with a menu that includes brunch plates and bagels created by Andrea's children Wilbur and Tilly. It's expected to open in early summer 2023.
