Crikey, Notting Hill really is becoming an interesting foodie destination. Hard on the heels of the openings of The Pelican and Caia comes news of an upcoming bistro, Dorian, with a stellar crew behind it.
Founder Chris D'Sylva - who ran the first food residency at The Compton Arms and who also owns Notting Hill Fish + Meat Shop - is joined by head chef Max Coen who is ex-Kitchen Table. The final members of the dream team are bar manager Ale Villa who comes here via Core by Clare Smyth and Ben Whitfield who was at Brasserie Zédel.
As you can imagine, the menu sounds super enticing with dishes like
- Potato rösti with crab or girolles and Cornish Yarg
- Mussels with cucumber and shiso
- Peach custard tart
Ale's drinks menu reads equally well with a fig leaf negroni for which he forages his own leaves and wine supplied by Keeling Andrew & Co., the folk behind Noble Rot, who have built a mainly French and Italian wine list.
The space itself (it's the old Raoul's and Coins Coffee Store site) will feature a large open kitchen with a wood grill front and centre. There will be a mix of counter dining and banquette seating too.
