A Hot Dinners exclusive
If you're a Crystal Palace resident wondering what's happening at the old Church Grill site on Church Road, well we have news for you. The space has been taken over by the team behind pizzeria Made of Dough and will reopen as Palazzo - an all-day Italian bar and diner.
Music is going to be at the heart of this new SE19 place. They'll have a record library and a regularly changing DJ lineup, all helped by the fact they've got a late-night licence on weekends.
Open from brunch through to late-night drinks, Palazzo will be a diner by day, bar by night kind of vibe. As it actually takes over the space of three shop fronts there'll be room for group tables, counter seating and a separate bar along with a terrace that's going to open in summer.
For the food menu you can expect a variety of small and large plates so:
- Pork & Veal Meatballs
- Anchovy Bread
- Zucchini fritti
- Chicken Milanese with Lemon & Aioli
And yes, there will be pizza on the menu too.
Weekend brunches are expected to be a big thing here with drinks including the Morning Glory (espresso, avocado and vanilla shake) and brunch dishes like Ricotta Hotcakes with Banana & Honeycomb and Bacon Panuozo with Mascarpone & Mostarda.
The wine list will be all-Italian wine alongside an aperitif cocktail list and draught beer from Brick Brewery and the Drop Project.
"It's everything we’d want in a local hangout" says co-founder Ed Sandeman "Good honest food, great drinks...open early and late with DJs playing vinyl on the weekends. Heaven."
