The Oystermen are opening Walter's in West Dulwich

The Oystermen are opening Walter's in West Dulwich

Following their Covent Garden restaurant (which doubled in size after they opened it), Rob Hampton and Matt Lovell, aka The Oystermen, are getting ready to open their next restaurant. This time they're heading south to West Dulwich to launch Walter's.

Heading up the kitchen is Head Chef Khalid Hassan (previously at Social Eating House and Murano) and there will be a menu of British-inspired classics - for example:

  • Trout skin with a cod roe dip and truffle arancini
  • Bloody Mary crab salad
  • Roasted hake with romesco sauce
  • Spiced cabbage and a slow-cooked duck egg
  • Chocolate delice with brown butter ice cream

On Sundays they'll have monthly-changing sharing dishes, kicking things off with ox cheek and mushroom pie and a whole sea bass served table-side.

Wines will be a big focus for the restaurant and bar which will include a good selection of English wine, sparkling wines and grower champagnes. The restaurant will be to the front of the building and they'll have a lounge bar to the back - so you will be able to just pop in for a drink. They also have a wine cellar in the basement and that will be used for tastings and as a private dining room.

Their first restaurant was a big success with the critics, so we have high hopes for this one too.
