A new cafe by day/wine bar by night is heading to The City. Where's Fred comes from Chelsea Finch, who's also behind the District cafés in Parsons Green, Mayfair and Nine Elms.
The food menu is going to change throughout the day. So they'll start with a brunch-style menu on which you'll find pan con tomate with fried eggs, a truffle egg croissant and Fred’s Loaded Banana Bread (that's topped with Greek yoghurt, roasted figs and pistachios). Lunch will add sandwiches (including vegan sarnies) and extra dishes like a steak & vintage cheddar pie. Then, moving into the evening, they'll have Oysters Kilpatrick, charcuterie and cheese boards as well as more dishes like burrata with roasted squash and pesto.
For the wines, it'll be a mainly European, low-intervention list which is being pulled together with help from Chelsea's friend and top London GM Emma Underwood (The Pem). The list will be "inviting and accessible, and to help demystify low-intervention wines for those who might be unsure about them".
Sounds like it could be an interesting new haunt for returning City folk.
