It's long been a popular spot in Brixton for Jamaican tapas and boozy brunches, but now Three Little Birds is heading in a new direction. Owner April Jackson is turning her Coldharbour Lane bar into a restaurant serving what she calls "modern British food with Jamaican soul".
If you're wondering what that means for the menu, we're told to expect dishes like:
- Pan Seared Duck Breast, Jerk Glaze, Roasted Sweet Potato Purée, Wilted Greens, Rum Soaked Plums, Toasted Hazelnuts
- Potato Croquettes, Goat, Curry, Plantain Ketchup
- Roasted Cauliflower, Beetroot Hummus, Pomegranate, Tamarind Sauce
The drinks side of things is run by Jackson's partner Lee Tran and we rather fancy his take on the martini - a St. Elizabeth Martini made with Porters Tropical Old Tom Gin, pineapple liqueur, acid blend and herb oil or maybe the Pimento Old Fashioned with Plantation 5yr Barbados, pimento and chocolate.
"Brixton is still changing and we are eager to change with it," says Jackson. But the good news is that one thing is staying the same - the weekend's bottomless brunches are returning.
