Peg is back in Hackney for the first time in 18 months

Another restaurant that's been closed since March 2020 is making a triumphant return. This time it's the turn of Peg, the Hackney restaurant from the people behind P Franco and Bright, who have just announced their reopening date. The last time we saw them, it was mainly an a la carte affair, all centred around the pegs (aka yakitori) of their name. They did pop up at Bright last August - but this is the first time they've been back in their own restaurant.

The return has brought change with it. They're switching over to a new set menu dinner (four courses and snacks for £45) and they say "the influences on show will be broadened to encompass our wider travels. We will simply cook and serve the food we like to eat."

Here's what's on that first menu:

  • Cold Potato Noodles, Wakame + Sesame
  • Steamed Wild Turbot, Kohlrabi + Lemon Kosho
  • Dry-Aged Beef Sirloin, Fermented Tomato + Grilled Aubergine
  • Raspberry Leaf Ice-cream + Brambles

And it all finishes with a walnut + meadowsweet financier.
