Fatt Pundit head to Covent Garden with their Indo-Chinese dishes and cocktails

If fusion food is your chilli jam, then you might be interested to know that Fatt Pundit are heading to Covent Garden. The Indo-Chinese restaurant first opened in Soho two years ago, building up a fanbase for its food inspired by Canton and Guangdong immigrants who settled in Kolkata and Mumbai.

Now they're opening a second restaurant, this time on Maiden Lane on the old Polpo site. And while they'll be bringing along popular dishes from the first restaurant - like Crackling Spinach and Lamb Chops with Black Bean Dust, there'll also be a whole load of new things to get your teeth into, including:

  • Crab 65 - crunchy soft-shell crab with spice and curry leave flavoured yoghurt
  • Saffron Butter Prawns in a coconut Malabar sauce
  • Honey Chilli Duck with steamed pancakes
  • Crunchy Jersey Royals in a chilli and garlic reduction topped with coriander

The new Covent Garden space has room for two bar areas and cocktails are going to be a big thing. If you can take the heat, the Birds Eye Margarita sounds worth trying, or maybe The Scholar and the Priest, which combines brandy, black olives and rosemary tonic. There'll also be wine from China and the Lebanon alongside mango lassis and small batch beers.
