Santa Maria have been hailed by some as serving up London's best pizza, so news of a new opening by them is definitely welcome. We already knw tew that they were gearing up for their first vegan pizzeria, but they're also going to be opening in the ever-shifting landscape of Islington's Upper Street. They've taken over the space that was once Baba-Boom for their next pizzeria.
Other than Zia Lucia down in Holloway, Islington has been curiously bereft of really great pizza (considering the square-footage of restaurants) so this will be very welcome. Little is known about the place yet, but expect the same menu to their other restaurants - so that's pizzas like:
- SANTA CATERINA - Tomato sauce, mozzarella, salame Napoli, fresh chilli and parmesan
- SAN MATTIA - Buffalo mozzarella DOP, mushrooms, truffle oil and parmesan shavings
- SAN GIUSEPPE - Mozzarella, smoked mozzarella, friarielli (wild broccoli), free-range rare breed North Yorkshire pork sausage, parmesan
