Updated 12/8/21 with soft launch offer
A new egg-based restaurant is coming to London, but this has a more unique starting point. It comes from Sohail Ahmad, an Afghan refugee who came to the UK on his own on the back of a lorry at the age of 12 - but then eventually built up a career as a professional boxer and personal trainer.
Now he's getting into the restaurant business with the launch of the marvellously named Eggoland. The main driver behind it born "from his frustration at never being able to order his eggs just the way he likes them".
Here's a taste of the menu, which does sound pretty good:
- Wakey Wakey Eggs’N’Baccy - Face-down fried egg, maple soaked beef bacon & mature cheddar cheese in a warm brioche bun.
- Hills ’n’ Valleys - House-made Glamorgan cheese and leek patty, soft scrambled egg, chives and citrus mayo in a warm brioche bun.
- Feeling Decadent - Confit duck leg, face-down fried duck egg, caramelised onions and spring onions in a warm brioche bun
The restaurant will be halal, pet-friendly and promises plenty of vegan options too. Is London ready for another egg-based restaurant - we'll see...
