It's been a while since we've had a new opening from Soho House (we're not counting 180 House) which opened quietly to members only) but now they're heating up to launch a new restaurant in Shoreditch. The group has teamed up with The Hoxton hotel to launch Mexican rooftop restaurant Maya in Shoreditch. That makes it London's third rooftop Mexican restaurant (there's also Decimo and Madera) - we're sensing a theme here.
It's not the first Maya. The restaurant started life as pop-up in Soho House West Hollywood LA, then popped up across the world before settling down as a permanent LA restaurant. It was designed by chef Giacomo Pettinari, picking up experience from LA Mexican restaurants and from his mainly Oaxacan kitchen staff.
It focuses on Baja Mexican food, made with local produce and they're bringing over the guacamole cart for tableside guac as well as new dishes which include:
- Spicy Tuna Tostada with crispy leeks and chipotle aioli
- Plant-based Mushroom Quesadilla with chipotle mayo,
- Calabacitas Taco with squash blossom, cream and pico de gallo
It has a super location for the Soho House group, taking over the 7th-floor rooftop space at The Hoxton, with tables both in and out and it should have a great view over east London.
