What: Buvette London
In a nutshell: NYC bistro hits London
Summing it all up: Hugely popular not only in its original West Village location, but also in Paris and Tokyo, hip New York bistro Buvette has landed in London.
The low-down
As we've been stuck all the way over in North London during lockdown, you'll forgive us for having not spotted that NYC bistro import Buvette had quietly opened its doors in Notting Hill just before Christmas. Obviously they haven't been able to do dine in yet, but they have been doing a busy trade in takeaway pastries and coffees along with croque monsieurs to go and pots of tartiflette.
If you haven't been to the original restaurant in the West Village or the spin-offs in Tokyo and Paris, chef Jody William's place is part cafe, part wine bar and restaurant. As they say, it's for everything "from an early morning espresso, to an afternoon croque madame with an old friend to classic cocktails expertly made at the bar served late into the evening."
The good news for anyone hoping to sit down and enjoy a meal at the London branch is that they do have alfresco space and are planning to open their terrace from 12 April. And we can't wait until May to try the amazing bar space inside (we had to search high and low for the photo below).
