In pre-lockdown times, Mortimer House Kitchen had a series of impressive guest chef pop-ups, including Elizabeth Haigh, Oli Brown, Luke Selby, Zoe Adjonyoh of Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen and more. And they're not letting a lockdown stop them either as they're next going to be hosting Pidgin - but this time for delivery only.
For two months, James Ramsden, Sam Herlihy and the Pidgin team will be taking over the kitchen there - bringing with them the Homing Pidgin menu. Up until now, that's been something only locals to the restaurant could enjoy, as it was collection only. But now it'll be available for delivery across London.
As it does in Hackney, the menu will be changing every week. Unlike Hackney, it'll be a pared-down three-course menu here for £25 per person, and it kicks off with:
- Radicchio and Fennel Salad with Stracciatella, Thyme Honey & Blood Orange Dressing, Spiced Brazil Nut Crumb and Orange
- Master Stock Braised Pork Belly with Kimchi Polenta Cake, Jus and Wilted Barese
- Sangiovese Poached Quince with Arbequina Olive Oil Custard and Beremeal Crumble.
That menu will be paired with wines from Modal Wines, including a Douro Pet Nat Rosè, a Mas d’Agalis from Languedoc. There will also be cocktails from Black Lines Drinks, including a Pear & White Tea Fizz.
Here's what Pidgin's James Ramsden says:
This is a super exciting opportunity for us to work with some new chefs in a new kitchen and bring our Homing Pidgin menu to a wider audience. Our E8 community have been an incredible support, but it's great now to be able to get Pidgin out to some more London postcodes. We love what Mortimer House do and are delighted to be a part of it while the world finds its way back to some kind of normality.
