8/7/20 - updated with the opening date
The lockdown obviously paused many plans to open new restaurants in London and we're still to really see the impact on those places that are currently planning to open in the summer. But some restaurants have managed to open over the past few months, albeit for delivery only (like Attawa) and others are moving full steam ahead with plans to open in our post-lockdown world.
So it's good news when we hear about brand new developments and one of those is The Tapas Room. They already have two restaurants - in Deptford and Tooting - but now they have plans for not one, but two new sites.
First up is Brixton Village. They actually started out in Brixton under the name of the Donostia Social Club in Pop Brixton, and now they're returning with a slightly larger space inside the village. There, "nibbles" (salt cod croquetas, pan con tomate) will sit alongside sharing tapas like "Confit Fennel with Pickled Figs & Asturian Blue Cheese" and "Seared Scallop, Pisto, Green Chili Sauce & Almonds". They'll also have weekend Spanish brunches.
Next up is Battersea, where they'll have a Tapas Room inside the new Battersea Spanish school. So there you'll be able to learn the language and then immediately put your studies to the test by trying to order something at the bar. That sounds like a proper exam to us. This venue will also add wine tasting as well as cookery classes.
