What: Pucci
In a nutshell: Mediterranean fare in Mayfair
Summing it all up: Tilly Turbett (ex-Gordon Ramsay group) will lead the kitchen at Pucci, cooking small plates and pizza at this new spot on Maddox Street.
The low-down
Mayfair is getting a new restaurant in a few weeks time, promising a relaxed vibe and small plates ’showcasing flavours from across the Mediterranean’. Heading up the kitchen is Tilly Turbett, who’s designed a menu that incorporates Italian, Turkish and Lebanese influences, but using British produce whenever possible.
This translates to a fairly eclectic selection of dishes, including:
- Glazed Barbary duck breast with pomegranate molasses and sweet potato
- Wild sea bass crudo with chilli, melon and lime oil
- Sticky delizia pumpkin with honey, sesame, goat curd and Aleppo pepper
- Harissa-charred cauliflower with green tahini and pomegranate; and Grilled radicchio with parmesan and bottarga
If you’re wondering if Pucci Mayfair has any connection to the now-closed King’s Road institution Pucci Pizza, then the answer is yes. Pucci’s son Rufus Albanese will be operating front of house and the menu will feature the legendary pizzas using the same family recipe served at Pucci Pizza. This was a hot spot with celebs such as Rod Stewart and Bryan Ferry yonks ago.
Pucci will also have an outdoor side-street terrace which, come next summer, will almost certainly be a very nice spot for a cocktail or two.
