What: The White Haus

In a nutshell: Alpine-themed pub in Farringdon

Summing it all up: Hippo Inns are turning three floors of Farringdon pub into an après ski fest of schnitzels, Alpine beer and hot toddies.

The low-down

Sounding like much more fun than President Trump's current abode is The White Haus - a new Alpine-themed pub opening in Farringdon next month. From the folk who brought us The Islington Townhouse and the Colton Arms, Hippo Inns are promising three floors of après ski jollity on Farrindon Street.

With those floors stuffed with cuckoo clocks, vintage cable cars and snowflake chandeliers it's going to be pretty in-your-face stuff. But it sounds fun too. There's a bookable cable car for six or you can head downstairs to the lower ground Pery Medal Room with its own retro ski lift photobooth.

The food follows the same theme with schnitzels and sauerkraut and sharing boards of Baked Mont d’Or, pickles and potatoes on the menu. There'll be plenty of 1936 Biere – it's brewed at the foot of The Alps – and the cocktail list will feature a Salted Caramel Old Fashioned, Black Cherry & Amaretto Sour lots of hot toddies, vin chaud and ‘ski shots’.
