Summing it all up: Taking over three storeys on the King's Road, the Danish company's new sushi and yakitori sticks spot will feature a private dining room with a difference - you get your own chef, staff, music and even lift!
The low-down
The new Sticks’n’Sushi opening up on the King's Road is not only the group's largest restaurant, but it's also following a newish trend in London - to have a restaurant within a restaurant. We've already reported on how the upcoming Maison Bab features a chef's restaurant within their latest place, now Sticks’n’Sushi are following suit.
Their new three storey restaurant in Chelsea will feature The Kings Room, a 26-seat ‘restaurant-within-a-restaurant’ private dining room in the basement. It's a space complete with its own kitchen, cocktail bar and waiters. Guests booking the room will be able to choose bespoke menus, prepared for them by their own chefs - hell, you even get to pick the music. There'll be doors you can have open to watch the chefs at work, should you choose, and if you really want the VIP service, they can even set aside a special lift (although it's not a car lift) for you to get to the room.
Elsewhere the 220-seater restaurant is split into a ground floor with an open kitchen - if you fancy watching the chefs knock up their signature sushi or yakitori sticks, there's counter dining here too. Upstairs sounds like a better place for groups with larger booths and a long communal table.
Food wise it's the usual sticks, sushi and sashimi on offer - and in addition to all that they're going big on their vegetarian and vegan offering with a special ‘Green Card’ section of the menu so anyone following a meat-free or plant-based diet can see at a glance what's available.
