What: Boxcar Baker & Deli
In a nutshell: Posh corner store and cafe in Marylebone
Summing it all up: Only the best for Marylebone's residents and workers - this new deli and cafe will serve up British produce and Swedish pastries making it a very handy addition to the area.
The low-down
Just over a year after they opened their popular Butcher and Grill just off Portman Square, the folk at Boxcar are expanding their empire. Their next venture is going to be the Boxcar Baker & Deli which is opening further north in Maryebone on the corner of Crawford Street and Wyndham Place.
The all-day bakery, store and deli will sell all manner of lovely British produce but their pastries will be inspired by Sweden. So you can pick up honey by The London Honey Company, milk by The Estate Dairy, and cheese by The Fine Cheese Co as well as a decent bottle of wine and meat and poultry from their own butchers.
If you're lucky enough to live or work around this part of town you can sit yourself down on the terrace, keeping an eye out for local residents Madonna or Noel Gallagher, with a cup of own-brand Boxcar coffee by family-run Reads Coffee Roasters and a lovely pastry or opt for a pretzel bagel or coddled eggs.
Lunchtimes are all about healthy salads and sandwiches and then later on they'll switch to a light tapas-style menu and flatbreads served with a selection of English wines and local craft beers or ciders.
