What: Kyseri
In a nutshell: Fitzrovia follow-up to Oklava
Summing it all up: The duo behind Shoreditch's popular Oklava restaurant,Selin Kiazim and Laura Christie, are opening another restaurant, this time in Fitzrovia, where they'll be making Turkish pasta in the window and serving up an eclectic selection of wines.
The low-down
London's restaurant rumour mill has been humming with news that the dynamic duo behind Oklava in Shoreditch, Selin Kiazim and Laura Christie, were working on a new project. And now we can tell you that they'll be opening a second restaurant, Kyseri in Fitzrovia.
Similarly to Oklava, they'll be serving up modern Turkish food - but this restaurant will have a distinct focus on Turkish ‘pastas’, which they'll make Padella-style in the window each day, and wines from the Middle East.
As the name suggests, the pair took inspiration for the menu from the Kayseri region or Turkey as well as from Selin’s Turkish Cypriot heritage. There'll be house-cured pastirma (air dried beef) manti dumplings and erişte - a kindd of broken tagliatelle.
Expect a pretty interesting wine list as partner Laura Christie - who also runs Islington's Linden Stores - has a list of small producers from across Turkey and the Middle East.
Other dishes we're told to look out for include:
- Cypriot Hellim Loaf & Black Sea Fondue
- Veal Sweetbread, Braised Garlic, Brown Butter & Hazelnut Yoghurt
- Slow Cooked Celeriac, Preserved Mandarin & Sunflower Seeds
- Spiced Beef & Sour Cherry Manti, Yoghurt Sauce, Tomato-Chilli Butter & Pine Nuts
- Cornish Duck Breast, Braised Leg Gözleme, Grape Molasses & Black Garlic
- Pistachio & Kaymak Katmer, Mastic Ice-Cream
