Lanes of London

Lanes of London

| Mayfair, Belgravia

This is the restaurant for the Marriott Park Lane. It aims to concentrate on the "best of London’s street food" and this is represented by mixing several international cusines that hark from distinct areas of London (those would be the "Lanes" of the title). That means Vietnamese (Kingsland Road) Indian (Brick Lane) British (Portobello Road) and Lebanese (Edgware Road).

"While no worse than what’s on offer at many tourist hotels throughout the world, it’s a disappointing reminder – among the gush and hype that surrounds the London restaurant scene – of how easy it is for the uninformed tourist to drop £50-a-head on a hugely mediocre meal." READ REVIEW

"Most of the travellers who haunt the hotel's marbled halls will probably never make their way out to Dalston or Brixton or the fantastic Hawker House in Hackney. So it's cheering to think that at Lanes, they'll at least get a glimpse of how London eats, the vitality and range. We came to mock, and stayed for a decent meal." READ REVIEW

"It's not that all the cooking is truly awful (though some of it re-defines the word). It is more that it presents the opportunity to create a meal that makes no sense whatsoever. It's discord fashioned from calories; it's dinner as curated by Stockhausen." READ REVIEW
