Porridge pop-up cafe to open in Shoreditch

It was only a matter of time. Following hard on the heels of the success of the Cereal Killer Cafe comes the ultimate in breakfast pop-ups - the Porridge Cafe. No, it's not an early April Fools jape, but a serious enterprise.

The cafe, located between Shoreditch and Old Street, will offer all manner of porridges, sweet and savoury. There'll be a rotating menu of 11 different grains for breakfast including Buckwheat and Quinoa amongst others, with toppings such as persimmon compote, chia seeds, papaya, agave nectar as well as the more traditional toppings. As for milk, you'll be able to choose between dairy, coconut and almond milk.

From lunchtime onwards, the menu will expand to include a savoury range of porridges and grains so expect dishes like red velvet beetroot spelt, feta and capers topped with a poached egg and a range of risottos.

The Porridge Café opens 2 March 2015 at 70 Paul Street, EC2A 4NA. Opening hours will be 7am – 6 pm for breakfast, lunch and early dinner 7 days a week. Keep up with their news on Twitter @PorridgeCafe
