One of London's longest-running restaurant sagas finally came to an end last week. For two years, Pickle and Toast has been tormenting Soho folk with an 'Opening Soon' hoarding, promising decent grilled cheese sandwiches. Many figured it was never actually going to open. And then, quietly, with no fanfare at all, it FINALLY opened last week.
So what can you expect? Well the clue is in the name. They say they'll be serving "the best grilled cheese sandwiches London has ever tasted, made with the finest Poilâne sourdough, huge amounts of mature West Country cheddar and a good dash of old-school New York grilling expertise." You'll be able to choose from a whole or half sandwich and then pimp it up with extra fillings like cheesesteak & onion, fennel sausage or ham hock & Dijon mustard.
There'll be room to sit inside or you can just grab and go.
