The early part of 2016 is hotting up in Brixton with two large new restaurant openings on the horizon.
Barrio Brixton
The first up is Barrio Brixton which opens in February and will be the fourth restaurant in the chain. The venue on Acre Lane will have room for 200 as well as an outside area (maybe not so useful right now). They'll be serving up all manner of tequilas and mezcals, to piscos and cachacas and will be open 7 days a week and until 2am at the weekends. Food wise they'll be focusing on anticuchos - spicy skewers of meat, the kind of streetfood you'd apparently find in Lima.

Rum Kitchen
Following them is Rum Kitchen whose third restaurant opening will be in Brixton. Their restaurant on Coldharbour Lane will have room for 110 diners (and 20 more in their alfresco spot).
In the kitchen, a mix of charcoal and wood-fired ovens, a custom grill and a smoker will turn out jerk chicken, Chili Cheese Burger and Island Spiced Baby Squid. New to the menu are "Grilled Red Snapper with Mixed Pepper Escovitch and Avocado salsa" and "Jerk Fried Chicken Burger with spicy lime salt, scotch bonnet mayo, Swamp hot sauce and House pickles."
If all that spice helps you work up a thirst, you can try one of the 200 rums on offer. And they'll also have a £5 happy hour from 4-7pm daily.
Rum Kitchen Brixton soft launches at 435 - 437 Coldharbour Lane, Brixton, London SW9 8LN on 19 July. From 19-31 July (excluding 21, 25 and 28) one dish and one cocktail per person is free.
