What: Flour & Grape
In a nutshell: Simple, affordably priced Italian.
Summing it all up: There'll be just eight pastas on the menu at Flour & Grape, who aim to create a beautifully pared back selection of Italian antipasti, pasta and gelato. They promise very reasonable prices, pasta to go and a very healthy (and affordable) wine list. Colour us interested...
There's a new affordable Italian restaurant heading to Bermondsey by the name of Flour & Grape. They'll be rocking up later this year with a simple, reasonably priced menu comprising of pasta, antipasti, gelati and a good value wine list.
Some of the antipasti we've been told about include homemade ricotta with beetroot or pork tenderloin with tonnato. After that, there'll be eight types of homemade pasta for you to choose from, like:
- Bucatini with capers and tomatoes
- Gigli with a sausage ragu
- Tortelloni with roasted pork shoulder, sage butter
- Reginette with tiger prawn, prawn bisque, basil
There'll be space for 60, but if you're not able to stay then there'll be a pasta counter at the front of the restaurant boxing up freshly made pasta and sauces for you to take away.
Wine is a big focus at Flour & Grape (the name is a clue), who'll be providing loads of "intriguing" Italian bottles for you to try at very low markups - we've been promised shop prices. That will include a generous 25 available by the glass. And then gelato to finish everything off.
We're suckers for a good bargain, particularly when copious amounts of wine, carbs and ice-cream are involved, so colour us officially interested.
