The Michelin Guide has unveiled its new stars for 2022. Some of the most prized restaurant awards in the business, and probably the only restaurant awards that are globally recognised, here's what's newly starred in 2022.
New two-starred restaurants
The Clove Club
Shoreditch: Shoreditch Town Hall, 380 Old Street, London EC1V 9LT
One of the best restaurants in town and one of the few to make it into the World's 50 Best list, The Clove Club is now a London institution, on the must-try lists of all good gastro tourists. Head into the main restaurant for a regularly changing set menu which is at the heart of things here - or to the bar for cocktails and nibbles.
Ikoyi
St James: 1 St. James’s Market, London SW1Y 4AH
This restaurant comes from Iré Hassan-Odukale (front of house) and Jeremy Chan (Head Chef) and features a modern take on West African Cuisine that's electrified reviewers (and diners) since opening.
New one-starred restaurants
Evelyn’s Table
Soho: 28 Rupert Street, London W1D 6DJ
Downstairs from their pub The Blue Posts is this tiny restaurant, run by three brothers Luke, Nathaniel and Theo Selby. It's a small counter dining affair with only 11 seats . Expect a regularly changing menu that mixes up British produce and Japanese techniques with classic French dining.
Frog by Adam Handling
Covent Garden: 34-35 Southampton St, Covent Garden, London WC2E 7HG
Adam Handling has brought his Frog concept from Spitalfields to Covent Garden. Expect a bigger, more traditional restaurant and some dishes unique to this location.
More about Frog by Adam Handling
Jamavar
Mayfair: 8 Mount St, Mayfair, London W1K 3NF
A North Indian dining experience founded by Samyukta Nair with her father, Dinesh - you'll find dishes from both the Royal kitchens of Northern India and the coastal cuisine from the Southern states on a menu of what they call "palatial Indian dining".
Kol
Marylebone: 9 Seymour Street, London W1H 5BT
Santiago Lastra's Kol is another step in the reinvigoration of Mexican food in London, this mixes Mexican cooking with ingredients that are largely sourced in the UK (and it has a great downstairs bar too). It's been one of London's hottest restaurants since it opened - expect to see the odd celeb here.
Sollip
London Bridge: 8 Melior St, Bermondsey, London SE1 3QP
Sollip is from husband and wife team Woongchul Park (formerly at The Ledbury and Koffman's) and Bomee Ki (former pastry chef at The Arts Club). They're marrying the team's European cooking style with Korean influences in a fine-dining, paired back approach.
Trivet
London Bridge: 36 Snowsfields, Bermondsey, London SE1 3SU
Trivet is a joint collaboration between chef Jonny Lake and master sommelier Isa Bal, both alumni of Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck. Here you can expect an informal take on fine dining with a truly epic wine list that covers the globe. The attached wine bar has a pared-down menu that's also worth trying out.
Wild Honey
St James: 8 Pall Mall, London, SW1Y 5NG
Moved from its original Mayfair location, Anthony Demetre's Wild Honey V2 is bigger and swankier - but still has some of the favourite dishes from the original on the menu. Expect French cuisine with a modern touch.
