The Golden Tooth will be a new pub from the Papi team on Green Lanes

The Golden Tooth is the new pub from the Papi team on Green Lanes

Last month, Papi moved on from their London Fields restaurant, quickly replaced by the soon-to-open Auguste. And now we know what Papi themselves have planned - they're opening a pub on Green Lanes, just north of Newington Green. They're taking over The Leconfield and renaming it The Golden Tooth.

Chef Matthew Scott and wine merchant Charlie Carr are apparently taking a more "grown-up" approach to this neighbourhood pub. They'll be splitting up the space with half staying as a pub and the other half as a restaurant. That means there will also be two menus. For the bar snacks side of things, that means currywurst and mussels toast with house lardo as well as freshly shucked oysters.

As for the main menu, that will be focusing on grilled meats, chops and pies, as well as small plates like veal sweetbread saltimbocca and lacto cep & mushroom crackers. As for the big plates, they'll include an old spot pork chop with quince and kid goat chop with ezme salad. Charlie Carr, who also runs Wingnut Wines, will be bringing in a wine list that focuses on low-intervention wines, with bottles starting at a pretty reasonable £30. There will, of course, be Guinness.

It sounds like it could be a very promising new local for the area.
