They've already nailed the London sandwich market, now the folks behind Dom's Subs are attempting to create a similar stir in its bar scene. Over the weekend they soft-launched their first bar, Rasputins in London Fields.
The space used to be another bar, Deep Cuts, until that closed nearly a year ago. Since then Dom's Subs have been using it as a site to bake the bread for their amazing sub sarnies. And now, as they explained to Hot Dinners, "we've finally decided to put the space to its intended use and open as a bar in the evenings."
The concept, such as it is, is a beauty. Think hot dogs, beers and martinis. Running Rasputins will be Greg Boyce (founder of Dom's Subs) and Simon Bazeley who comes here via Soho's The Blue Posts.
"[It's going to be] a good neighbourhood bar," they say, "where you can post up with a beer or a martini, either alone or with some friends, and watch some sports, have a bite or chat to your fellow lurkers - maybe make a new friend..."
Right now for the bar food, they're sticking with hot dogs but they are promising to serve up Dom's Subs parms (both chicken and aubergine versions) in due course. "Drinks wise - cold beers, colder martinis, great mixed drinks but nothing overly fancy. Maybe a fun slushy on the back bar if the weather warms up?"
