Selin Kiazim is back with Leydi, a Turkish restaurant in the City

Selin Kiazim is back with Leydi, a Turkish restauarant in the City

We already knew that the new Ennismore hotel, Hyde London City, was planning a new restaurant for when it opened, opposite the Old Bailey. Now we're able to reveal what was pretty much an open secret, that Selin Kiazim, the chef behind Oklava and Kyseri, is going to be in charge. She's behind the hotel's main restaurant Leydi and has also brought her head chef from the much-missed Oklava, Halil Simsek, to do that same job at this new restaurant.

It will be an all-day affair, which means kicking off with breakfasts that feature in-house made stuffed lavash rolls and böreks as well as tahinlis, a caramelised tahini spiral. As for the rest of the day, expect dishes to include:

  • Islak burger - spiced beef köfte bun covered in garlic tomato sauce
  • Dayboat seafood fried in a semolina crust and served with green chilli and coriander ezme
  • Welsh lamb kebap with dripping pide
  • Chicken thigh shish with a fenugreek marinade

The stone oven-baked lahmacuns and pides which have been a signature of the chef will also be making an appearance. As for dessert, there will be Turkish ice cream with pick & mix toppings and her great künefe will also be on the menu, as an individual dessert of as a large sharing version for bigger groups.

As for drinks, Turkish bartender Kevin Patnode is in charge of the cocktail list, which includes a lion milk’s spritz made with raki, coriander seed, elderflower liqueur and sparkling wine.
