Riverside East brings a big cafe, terrace, street food and more to Stratford's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

Riverside East brings a big cafe, terrace, street food and more to Stratford's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

The team responsible for summer pop-up Between the Bridges are getting ready to open their own permanent place in Stratford, taking over a big space in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

A key part of Riverside East will be their cafe, which will be pretty big, seating 300. The menu for that is being designed by Lulu Cox (previously Rochelle Canteen, Bocca di Lupo and St. John) with chef Jamie Duvale (previously at Gordon Ramsay's restaurants) so there's real talent in the kitchen here. Planned for the cafe menu are dishes like their caramelised onion, lemon & halloumi slice as well as smoked trout with hash browns. They will, of course, have a weekend brunch too.

Outside the cafe is the alfresco space, The Terrace, and they've brought in Happy Endings and Hackney Gelato who will be serving ice cream sandwiches and tubs respectively out there (alongside flatbreads by the cafe).

But there's more. All that is somewhat dwarfed by the main outside area called The Yard, with space for 1000. Out there, expect a rotating group of street food and artisanal traders, markets and outdoor screenings.

On top of all of the above, there's also going to be a new restaurant there later in the year. It all sounds like quite the endeavour, and should be very welcome once the sunny weather properly hits.
