18/3/24 - Updated with the opening date
This year, Crispin had their biggest success yet with Bistro Freddie (which we thought was pretty good too). Now they're heading to Clapham, taking over the restaurant at Studio Voltaire (which was last occupied by Juliet's Quality Foods).
Called rather simply Crispin at Studio Voltaire, it will have Michael Miles as chef, who comes with impressive experience from both Counter71 and Manteca. The menu is yet to be revealed, but expect "classic seasonal dishes showcasing the best produce of the British Isles". It sounds like it'll be influenced by Michael's time at Manteca mostly, with dishes including fresh pasta, charcoal-grilled meat and fish.
As ever, wine is a big part of any Crispin opening, with the list here prepared by their group head of wine Alexandra Price, which will include wines on tap and the main list will focus on artisanal winemakers (with special wine dinners to come).
As for how they'll transform the space, designer Jermaine Gallacher says he's taking specific influence from 90s Conran restaurants, and we're told the whole space will be "enveloped in a giant brown and bright blue Kvadrat curtain."
We'll bring you more details of this closer to the opening.
