25/3/24 - Updated with the opening date
Billed as a London 'first' the arrival of Mexican churreria Aguamiel aims to introduce Londoners to the joys of Mexican churros. If, like us, you weren't sure what the difference was between Spanish and Mexican doughnuts, then let owner Bernardo enlighten you.
"The main difference between Mexican churros and Spanish is the way they are eaten and presented," he told Hot Dinners. "Traditionally in Mexico they are paired with a Mexican hot chocolate or "cafe de olla" and sold as a package. We infuse our drink with spices and piloncillo (jaggery), giving a whole new layer of flavour and aromas." Customers then get to choose what to dip their cinnamon-dusted churros in - dulce de leche, condensed milk or chocolate.
If all that isn't enough to convince you then knowing that Aguamiel will also be selling saritas (churro ice cream sandwiches) should be enough to seal the deal. There will also be a range of Mexican drinks on offer including horchata water, aqua frescas, single-origin coffee, and spiced hot chocolate alongside café de olla.
They're also promising a range of seasonal/monthly specials.
