3/4/24 - updated with new details and the opening date
Holland Park restaurant Julie's, despite once being one of the hottest restaurants in town, has had a troubled time of late.
The restaurant, which once featured a parade of A-list stars coming through its doors, first closed in 2015 for a redesign. That planned revamp took much longer than expected, with the restaurant only reopening in late 2019, just before you-know-what happened. It finally closed its doors at the end of 2022, but now a new owner is giving it another go.
The place has been taken over by Tara MacBain, who happens to be a Holland Park resident, Cordon Bleu-trained chef and a former Julie's regular, with plans to bring it back as a neighbourhood French brasserie. To that mind, she's brought in Chef Patron Owen Kenworthy (previously Brawn and The Pelican. On the menu, expect carabinero carpaccio and a lobster soufflé with buttered leeks and gruyère.
We're also told to expect a martini trolley for tableside cocktails. New touches to the space itself include a bespoke chandelier as you enter and an oyster shell-decorated bar. Hopefully, the third time will be a charm for Julie's.
