13/3/24 - Updated with the opening date and new dishes
The openings at Battersea Power Station are still coming thick and fast. The latest to join an ever-growing number of impressive places to eat and drink there is El Pastor.
This will be the fourth incarnation of El Pastor, which is already in Borough, Soho and King's Cross. If you've yet to come across it, the Mexican restaurant comes from the Harts Group (also behind Quo Vadis and Barrafina) and it's inspired by the time the Harts brothers ran a nightclub in Mexico City. So you can expect lots of tacos (including the titular El Pastor pork taco), tostadas and more, all accompanied by plenty of margaritas and lots of mezcal.
At Battersea, it sounds like they've got a big old space. There are seats for 90 inside and a further 60 on a riverside terrace that will be open all year round.
As for the food, they'll be launching something new at Battersea - their weekend brunch menu, which will only be served there. That new menu includes:
- Huevos con Frijoles – eggs scrambled with refried beans, served with warm tortillas and salsas
- Chorizo Macha roll – a lightly toasted brioche bun, smoky salsa macha glazed chorizo and a fried egg
They'll also have their version of an English breakfast: eggs any style, Mexican chorizo, frijoles charros, grilled tomato and mushroom, al Pastor ends and crispy roasted potatoes. That[s not all that's new though, as the main menu adds Queso Fundido (melted cheese, red onion, chilli de arbol and pumpkin seeds) and Queso Fundido (melted cheese, red onion, chilli de arbol and pumpkin seeds).
It sounds like another winner for Battersea, and we'll bring you more details closer to the opening date.
