Calcutta-inspired restaurant Paro is coming to Covent Garden’s Lyceum Theatre

Calcutta-inspired restaurant Paro is coming to Covent Garden’s Lyceum Theatre

Updated 11/9/23 with opening date and soft launch info

In excellent news for pre and post-show dining, Covent Garden’s Lyceum Theatre is getting a restaurant that is an ode to all things Calcutta. Called Paro, it will bring a modern spin to the traditional Indian dishes of West Bengal. In a space revamped by Studio G by Giorgia Pellandini, you can choose to dine in the 120-seater restaurant or perhaps linger in the bar while watching all the theatre-district action through their 3m-tall windows.

It’s the first restaurant from chef Niaz Caan, executive chef of City Spice in Brick Lane, where he has been cooking since the tender age of 14. He also recently launched his first publication ‘Vegan – An Indian Cookbook’.

The menu is a mix of small plates and sharing plates, where you can expect the following dishes:

  • Toddy shop tiger prawns
  • Slow-roasted lamb shanks with saffron, charred garlic and coriander
  • Mango chickpea chat
  • Bally black dahl with slow-cooked black lentils and grandmother’s spice mix

Sounds like a promising addition to the theatre district.
