Updated 29/11/22 with the new opening date
They've been one of London's fastest restaurants to reach two Michelin stars and now it appears that West-African restaurant Ikoyi are on the move. After much speculation, confirmation comes from co-founders, Jeremy Chan and Iré Hassan-Odukale that they'll be heading over to 180 The Strand for their new home. They've already hosted a dinner in the building itself, teaming up with Mark Strong late last year.
Their new address places them more or less right next door to hot new thing Toklas and will give them a larger dining room, an open kitchen and some terrace space too.
There's also the huge benefit of having some proper on-street presence (they're currently tucked away in St James's Market). Plus, and this is going to be popular, the new restaurant will also feature a leather-lined private dining room for six people. As chef co-founders, Jeremy Chan says, "For the first time, this gives us the facility to offer guests a truly personal, bespoke service and a more interactive experience with myself and the kitchen team."
There will also be an extended wine list, helping them to showcase lesser known areas, and there will be a non-alcoholic tea paring for the menu too.
"The space we have designed," said Jeremy and Iré in a statement, "will allow us the chance to fully express our interpretation of seasonality through bold heat and intensify the techniques we have worked on for the past five years...[it's] the next step in the restaurant’s evolution."
