Nikkei cuisine, which marries Japanese and Peruvian cuisines, continues to be a big thing in London - the latest Nikkei restaurant to arrive on the scene is Contigo.
It's opening in a space that was once the home for Strand Dining Rooms and after that, Blue Garden. With Contigo, they're going for high-end Nikkei, specifically showcasing seasonal dishes crafted with British ingredients.
It's a big restaurant of two parts, fitting in almost 200 people. The dining room with an open kitchen is "Osaka" while the seven-seater sushi counter and main bar are called "Lima". Expect the design to take in the influences of the cities that the spaces are named after. And on top of those areas, there will be a big outside terrace space too.
As for drinks, expect an ever-evolving long list of Central and South American spirits alongside their signature and classic cocktails. All that and late-night Dj sessions too.
It all comes from founder Keith Dube, who says "My vision for Contigo is to be an unexpected discovery in the heart of London. A place to meet, eat and celebrate life that’s completely inclusive."
We'll have more news about the menu closer to the opening date.
