For the first time since closing down his Jamie's Italian business in 2019, Jamie Oliver is back with a new restaurant - although this one is for collection and delivery only.
He's just launched Pasta Dreams in Soho. It's not a full restaurant launch though - Pasta Dreams will be a pop-up in the run-up to Christmas and seems to be designed to expand as delivery only across the UK (the aim is to grow it with an "innovative franchise model"). Whether that means dark kitchens, we're not sure.
How is he going to differentiate this from the pretty considerable competition of London's pasta restaurants? Apparently, the pasta suppliers will have to stick to his "high food-sourcing standards on sustainability and welfare"
Looking at the menu online, here's a taste of what's on offer:
- Cacio x Carbonara Casarecce - twisted handmade pasta coated in a peppery cheese sauce, with crispy pancetta, crushed pink peppercorns & shaved veggie Parmesan
- Beef & Chianti Agnolotti - Beef & red wine ragù-stuffed pasta coated in a tomato & caramelised onion sauce, topped with aged Parmesan
- Margherita Gnocchi Bake - Potato dumplings in a tomato & cheese sauce, topped with mozzarella, Italian breadcrumbs, basil pesto
- Vodka Arrabbiata Casarecce - Short twisted fresh pasta in a chilli & vodka-spiked tomato sauce with creamy stracciatella cheese.
Apparently, we can also look forward to monthly specials from guest “dreamers”, with £1 from the sale of every collaboration dish will be donated to the charity Springboard.
