Two months after she opened her Mexican restaurant, Cavita, chef Adriana Cavita is now ready to unveil her cocktail bar and mezcaleria Mayahuel. Situated underneath the restaurant but with its own entrance on Wigmore Street, Mayahuel looks every bit as enticing as the restaurant upstairs.
Manuel Lema is the man in charge here, coming from La Bodega Negra. He'll be serving up agave flights, showcasing top mezcals and mixing up cocktails. We rather like the sound of the agave drink and food pairings where drinks will be served alongside dishes picked to highlight their flavour profiles.
Obviously, there'll be a Cavita Margarita, made here with a blend of tequila blanco and reposado, mezcal and triple sec. Another drink that sounds worth trying is their Black Mayan, made with Eminente 7-Year-Old rum, espresso, Ojo de Dios coffee mezcal, demerara sugar and chocolate.
If you haven't been to the restaurant upstairs yet, you'll get a chance to try some brand new bar snacks here from the kitchen team such as:
- Tuna Tostada with macha sauce, avocado purée and ginger vinaigrette
- Esquites with chicken broth, jalapeno mayo and Appleby's Cheshire cheese
All in all, it sounds like Marylebone has another great bar worth adding to your to-try list.
