They've already launched Bar Daskal and Parrillan at Borough Yards and now the Harts Group are onto their final launch there, a new Barrafina.
The latest version of their popular tapas restaurant is actually in between Parrillan and Daskal in one big Harts Group building in the Yards. As with the previous restaurants, the bulk of the eating will be on stools around a big marble counter. However, here they've also got a semi-private dining room/snug off to the side that will fit 16 around a table. So even if you're in a big group, you'll still get the buzz of the main restaurant.
As for the food, Barrafina aficionados will find many of their favourite dishes on the menu, led by their Chef Director Angel Zapata Martin. here, however, he's going to be adding a few more Balaeric flavours to the menu. On that menu, you'll find:
- Tortilla con camarones (prepared with shrimp) and Tortilla de txistorra (a fast-cured, paprika-flavoured sausage from the Basque country),
- Caldereta del dia - a daily changing fish stew from Menorca
- Tartar de serviola - diced yellowtail with green apple slices and purée, shallot confit and a lemon dressing
- Patatas paja - black pudding, cow’s milk cheese from Menorca, and crisp ‘straw’ potatoes dressed in Mediterranean herbs
- Chicken Catalana - in a rich sauce of dried fruits and sherry and finished with a ‘picada’, a blend of toasted nuts, breadcrumbs, garlic, and parsley
- Greixonera de brossat - a traditional Mallorcan cheesecake made with fresh cottage cheese),
As for the drinks, there will be an extensive Spanish wines and sherries list - but of course, you can always pop next door to Bar Daskal for a post-Barrafina drink too.
