The openings at Borough Yards, the new development close to Borough Market are continuing apace - and that includes three new openings from the same people, the Harts Group. They're planning to open both a Barrafina and a Parrillan - but also a new Spanish wine bar, Bar Daskal.
We see it as something of a sibling to their The Drop wine bar at King's Cross. It has a list that's been created alongside the new Parrillan's and they say the aim is to create a list of "first-class, classic Spanish wines" with plenty available by the glass. Sherry will be a big deal too, as well as a short list of cocktails that include the Agua de Valencia (Gin, Blood Orange, Cadiz Fizz).
As for the food, they're promising snacks and cold tapas - so that means meats like Chorizo Ibérico and Salchichón Ibérico, Mojama (air dried tuna) with olive oil and hazelnuts, cheeses and Pintxo de tortilla con allioli, Mallorcan Trempó Salad and a ‘Coca of the day’ (Mallorquin cheese-less pizza).
The whole thing is named after Sam, Eddie and James Hart’s grandfather Vladimir Daskalof, a "painter, sculptor, designer, and sailor" and the bar will show a rare permanent exhibition of Daskal’s artworks with design inspired by the family's Mallorcan home. All in all, it should be a very promising drinks destination for Borough.
