Covent Garden has a new rooftop bar on top of the Amano hotel

German boutique hotel group Amano has just had a very under-the-radar launch of its first UK hotel. The new opening is in the heart of Covent Garden with a restaurant, bar and - the important bit - a Skybar with great views over London.

Mikey Lucombe (formerly at The Mandrake) is running the bar side of things at the hotel which includes a basement bar that aims to bring Berlin vibes to London. Up on the seventh floor is what's going to be the real draw this summer, a Skybar complete with roof terrace.

As for the food, that's coming in autumn when Israeli chef Ronen Dovrat Bloch opens the hotel's restaurant which will serve up a sharing dish menu in a space with DJs playing at the weekend. Looking at the menus for the group's other hotels it looks like you can expect dishes like chicken sabich, Tel Aviv schnitzel and israeli beef tartare with challah cracker, zhug and labneh.

If you do fancy an overnight stay, the rooms to go for are clearly the Goldy Rooms which come complete with a freestanding golden bathtub overlooking the city.
