Dalston restaurant Madam Pigg has closed

Its Sunday roasts were legendary and fans were legion, but after a tumultous couple of years, Dalston restaurant Madame Pigg has finally given up the fight.

In a post on Instagram yesterday chef and owner Adam Hardiman announced that the restaurant had ceased trading. "It’s the end of a chapter," he wrote. "To say how hard I’ve worked to even make it this far has nearly broken me, but I have learnt that there’s more important things In life, and that’s life it’s self, especially at this time in our lives. I mean it from the bottom of my heart without yous all supporting MP it would’ve been nothing, thank you for everyone that’s worked so hard for me, I love you all."

It seems that after an investor pulled out at the last minute, Hardiman was forced to close the restaurant. It's been quite a time for him - back in February he published a brutally honest piece in The Times about his battle with addiction, stint in rehab and genuine belief that the film Boiling Point could have been based on him.

"It's a very sad day," he added. We're sure the restaurant's regulars will agree.
