Good luck if you were out in London last night trying to get a cocktail at one of London's top bars. The cream of the city's mixology community were over at the Camden Roundhouse waiting to discover which of them made this year's World's 50 Best Bars list.
There are presumably sore heads over at The Connaught Bar which secured the top title for a second year running and was also the best bar in Europe too. Judges praised the Mayfair hotel bar for staying "true to its principles of presenting artful, modern drinks with graceful service in an elegant setting."
London did pretty well overall with both the No 1 and No 2 spots. Second place went to the wonderful Tayer + Elementary over by Old Street. Kwant - which hasn't reopened in its Mayfair spot yet post-lockdown - came in at No 31. But that's down from the eight bars we had in the top 50 list last year.
If you're looking for somewhere up and coming, there are a few London establishments in the 51-100 section of the list to check out too. Ryan Chetiyawardana's Lyaness is at No.55, Swift in Soho is at No.57 and there were three new entries this year for Satan’s Whiskers (73), A Bar with Shapes for a Name (77) and Side Hustle at NoMad London (80).
