What: Aspen & Meursault
In a nutshell: Natural wine bar in Battersea
Summing it all up: The people behind the much-loved Diogenes The Dog are opening a new wine bar, with natural wine as the focus.
The low-down
Happy days for Battersea oenophiles - there's an interesting new wine bar coming their way. Aspen & Meursault is from the Diogenes The Dog team which has been such a success in Elephant & Castle
The new all-day spot on Westbridge Road is going to be a cafe by day and wine bar by night. During the day you'll be able to order coffee using their own Diogenes the Dog 100% Guatemalan Roast. There's also a deli selling fresh organic bread, pastries, charcuterie meats, cheese and more - alongside wines to take home, of course.
In the evening things step up a bit as - and these are their words - they'll seek "to demystify the world of natural wine". Almost everything on sale will be available by the glass and they're hoping that their low intervention wine list will be proof "that natural wines don't have to be funky."
Alongside that there'll be a wine-accompanying menu of cheeseboards, South London cured meats, baked camembert, rich morcilla, and more.
