If there's one sector that appears to have thrived in London over the past year, it's the city's deli and food store scene. Having to stay at home and cook for ourselves has made Londoners all the more appreciative of the great places selling us provisions.
We popped down to check out Islington's new Superette store at the weekend, and were suitably impressed. The shop, from the team behind popular North London fishmongers Bournes, stocks food and drink cherrypicked from the city's best restaurants and more. Their first grocers opened in Highgate a year or so ago, so maybe this is the start of a city-wide rollout?
On offer are delights such as red kimchi from Leyton's Shedlesky's, labneh with confit garlic from Bubala, ready-to-cook pizzas from Homeslice and doughnuts and bread from St John. Cheese comes from La Fromagerie, there are ice-cream sandwiches from Happy Endings, bread and cream from Estate Dairy and coffee from Climpson & Sons.
At the back of the store, you'll find the bottle shop stocked with artisan Black Powder gin, El Reyo tequila, Tayer + Elementary cocktails and wines from Borough Wines.
It's a great addition to Islington, and with Rudy's Vegan Butcher just up the street makes this part of Upper Street a useful food shopping hub.
