Butcher & Brew have been established in Streatham for a few years, and now they've also just opened on the opposite side of London on Islington's Upper Street.
Their new N1 spot opened briefly before we were plunged into the current lockdown but now it's back again, currently operating as a craft beer and butchery shop and when things reopen properly, they'll have drinking and dining too.
Right now on the food side, it's mainly serving up a lunch menu. So there's an aged beef steak sandwich or a pork belly sandwich, as well as roasted cauliflower and truffle soup, beef chilli bowls and bacon rolls. Expect that to change regularly over the coming weeks - just keep an eye on their blackboard in the shop for the latest menu. They're also selling some frankly wonderful looking aged steaks from their ageing cabinet out at the front of the shop so it's well worth popping in for your steak dinner requirements.
As for opening properly, it'll be all about beer, wine and small plates (and coffee during the day). And - although it may not be obvious at first glance, they do have a fairly big outside space out the back which means they'll be able to open up on 12 April as part of London's great alfresco opening. We'll have more news on the menu for that opening closer to the time.
