The French Market brings patisserie and wine to Whetstone

the french market whetstone

Three years after opening their successful French wine shop and deli in Tufnell Park, the team behind Authentique Epicerie & Bar have opened a second French food spot in North London.

The French Market sees owners Alexandre, Amaury & Matthieu, who met having worked at various London wine merchants, this time bringing the bakery to the forefront of their offering. The new spot combines a bakery along with a selection of fine food and wine on the high street in Whetstone.

Running the bakery is head baker Mathieu Lagrange who trained up at Boulangerie Pascalis in Bourg de Péage and Boulangerie Pâtisserie Messerlin. He'll be serving up treats like Brioche with a chocolate melting heart and a special N20 fruit & nut bread alongside proper French baguettes and more.

He's helped by Yuri Gualeni, who used to be head sommelier at the Mandarin Oriental in London and also worked at Clos Maggiore and Coya, running the wine and deli side of things,
